Limerick poem

Recently we have been writing poetry and I love poetry! I find poems easy but hard to write.
It's really fun trying to think of words to rhyme and experiences to write about. This term we have looked at many styles of poems and I have written so many favourite poems so it was extremely difficult to choose just this one.

This poem is a limerick which means that the rhyming pattern is a,a,b,b,a

There once was a man called Lance
Who cycled the Tour de France
He won the race
At an exceeding pace
And performed his victory dance.

This poem was really fun to write and I thought it up very quickly just while I was sitting on the mat. People were suggesting country names and France came up. Lance was a name that rhymes with France so I wrote by poem based on the cyclist Lance Armstrong.
