Possible future career...

A future career that I really want is to become a running coach. It would be really cool to coach people, help them to get fit and achieve their goals. When I researched this job it said that the possible college subjects that I might need to take are physiology, exercise science and of course physical education. Apart from those main subjects I would have to look at taking other things such as first aid courses, learning about training programs, nutrition, functional movement, gym and strength building. Clubs and associations such as Athletics New Zealand offer coaching courses to teach new running coaches about training, stretching, mileage and more. As a running coach you have to be sensible and aware of your athletes and their other needs such as finding out their ability, what days they have other sports so you can work out a good program to fit in with their life and make sure that you are not over-training them. My targeted age group to coach would be teenagers and even adults who are serious in the sport and want to take it to the next level. I am inspired by my own coach who uses this as his full time job and even coaches on Christmas day! He owns a gym and gives up his own time in the afternoon to come and coach us.
